The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) believes that both individual and organizational health are important factors affecting the ability of all employees to attend work on a regular basis and to contribute fully to our mission of “Educating for Success – Inspiring Learning and Building Citizenship.”  All employees contribute to the success of students and regular attendance is essential to maintaining quality of services, consistency of support to students, staff and the community, as well as ensuring a fair distribution of work among colleagues.
The Attendance Management Program’s primary focus is to maintain a healthy workplace, which includes the physical and social environment, as well as personal health practices.  Addressing workplace wellness issues and promoting a healthy workplace will support employees so they are able to attend work regularly and contribute to the school board’s success. 
The process of addressing non-culpable absenteeism is supportive and non-disciplinary in nature.  The intent is to understand the absences, discuss the impact the absences are having on the specific school, department or location, provide support and indicate support services available to the employee, and allow sufficient time for the employee to address issues so that they can attend work regularly.
